Card Making Supply List

Card Making Supply List by Kathleen Rosenfield, April 2022.

A Sending Smiles Card.

Hey Stampbuddies, Have you ever taken a stamping class or watched a cool cardmaking video and wondered where do I begin. In other words, what do I need to start this hobby? Simply put, you really don’t need many supplies to start.

Why Use a Card Making Supply List?

When I first started stamping, I wasted a lot of time and money looking for and buying stamping products that either weren’t necessary, wrong for my style or poor quality. Because of this, I would like to help you avoid my mistakes and provide you with a basic card making supply list that you can build on. In the very beginning, you only need a few supplies: stamps, ink, paper & a clear block or two to adhere your stamps to. See picture above.

Basic Supplies when you are just beginning:

  • A versatile stamp set with various sentiments for many occasions.
  • Some Ink, definitely black and then 2-3 colors of your choice or the variety package of ink spots.
  • Note Cards & Envelopes.
  • A couple of Clear Blocks.
  • Simple Shammy, this is a great cloth to clean your stamps. Simply wet it, wring it out and dab your stamps to clean.

Supplies to ‘Step It Up’ if you decide you love stamping:

  • Basic White cardstock.
  • Other cardstock colors and some designer series paper.
  • Bone Folder for finished scoring.
  • Stampin Dimensionals, to raise your sentiment up off the cardstock for a 3D effect.
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue or adhesive.

  • Simple Shammy, this is a great cloth to clean your stamps. .

Start Slow:

Hopefully, the lists above are not overwhelming. Remember just start slow. In other words, just buy the basics to start. Try to think of lots of occasions to use the stamp sets and papers you choose. So, don’t spend on an item you can only use once or twice. I chose the Sending Smiles Stamp Set because it has eight great sentiments for all different occasions.
