A Glossary of Cardmaking Techniques:

These cardmaking techniques will have your mind buzzing with ideas for your next cardmaking project! I will keep adding to this glossary for you! Hope it is helpful!

Stamping

Stamping is when you use any stamp which has a raised design. First, ink it up and then press it down on your card or paper. As a result, those inky areas will be imprinted on your card or paper. Stamps are usually made of red rubber or clear photopolymer.

Embellishing

Embellishing a card simply means adding bling to the card. Examples of embellishments are sequins, colored gems or die cuts placed in a way to accent the over all design of the card. Therefore, it can really put the finishing touches to your work of art!

Die Cutting

Die cutting uses a die cutting machine to create cut out shapes and designs without needing to use a knife or scissors. There are tons of dies cuts (also called framelits and thinlits) available and they can be used over and over again. The dies are usually made of metal with a raised sharp area for cutting through paper and cardstock when run through the dire-cutting machine.  So, if you invest in a die cutting machine, you will marvel at how professional your cards now look.
